Revenue models and sustainability

Would you say your business model is sustainable?

“Yes, so far it’s been giving money for a living to both, the owner and his fix worker. Portal Parados, tough, lost money during the first 2 years, forcing the company to make cuts (fired 2 employees, and moved from a rented office in Madrid to “homeworking style”). Also, there were changes in how it used to work: contacts and business agreements are made now only by email and phone, instead of personal meetings like in the beginning. “

How much is your yearly or monthly revenue?

Less than 40.000 € per year (53.000 USD).

Where does your revenue go?

Money mostly goes to 2 key areas of the company: employees & marketing agency.

How much do you pay to your contributors?

They are paid monthly. Contributors do not receive pay: they are free lancers.

What about profit?

The plan is to increase the number of fix employees by 3, having a total of 5 employees.

What kind of advertising you sell?

Cost per click (CPC)

Do you see your publication as your main product?

“Yes, it is the main product.”

“No, since the topic of the site is un-employed people, that is, an audience with weak economical conditions, any other marketing channel has taken place in our strategy.”

What would be the most important thing on your road to sustainability?

“In this particular business (people with no jobs) , the most important thing is to increase the number of visitors, enlarging the commercial possibilities and incomes. “Portal Parados” have growth since 2010 more than 500% its unique visitors, having approximately 260.000 visitors per month. As mentioned before in the introduction, it is the only “un-employed oriented website” in Spain, ranking 3.000º in the Spain Google list.”
